Surebond SB-6000 Wet Look Sealer seals the pavement surface and brightens and enhances the natural colors of the pavingstone with a luxurious, wet look. It is breathable and will not trap the naturally occurring efflorescence, allowing it to be applied immediately after pavingstones are installed (as well as decreasing freeze-thaw damage). The product improves surface durability, enhancing the colors of the pavement and protecting the surface from salt, acid and staining. SB-6000 Wet Look Sealer is a water-based, exterior quality urethane surface sealer. It is solvent-free and exceeds all VOC, EPA, OSHA and FDA standards. SB-6000 Wet Look Sealer has the consistency of water and is milky white when applied; it dries to a clear, wet look on the surface of the pavement. SB-6000 Wet Look Sealer can be used both inside and outside on old and new pavements. Cured sealer is freeze resistant to -60°F (-51°C) and is stable up to a temperature of 180°F (82°C).
Preparation:
The pavement surface should be clean and free from oil, dust and any loose material. If necessary, use SB-442 General Stain Remover to clean pavers (refer to label and data sheet for guidelines). Excess joint sand should be brushed from the surface and the paver joints should be completely filled with dry, correctly graded jointing sand, with the top level not exceeding the bottom of the chamfer or 1/8” below the surface of non-beveled or tumbled paver surfaces. A leaf blower is the recommended method to remove dust and fine particles from the surface to achieve the optimum joint sand height. Remove all efflorescence prior to sealer application. Use SB-488 Efflorescence and Rust Remover if necessary (refer to label and data sheet for guidelines). The surface should be dry prior to application. Previously applied sealer should be stripped. If any product separation should occur, gently agitate container to re-emulsify mixture.
Benefits:
- Wet Look
- Fast Drying
- Breathable
- Environmentaly Friendly
- Reduces Water Penetration
Application Information:
SB-6000 Wet Look Sealer should be rolled or sprayed on the pavement surface using a thick (3/8″) paint roller and a handheld garden sprayer. Use coverage guidelines to determine a sufficient amount of material to provide an even, darkened coating. Roll or spray the material so it wets down and saturates all the pores on the surface of the paver. This is best achieved using a handheld garden sprayer and a thick paint roller to coat the surface of each paver, including the chamfers, edges and recessed areas on textured pavers. A second application may be necessary on more porous or older pavements to achieve a consistent and darkened effect. Care should be taken that no excess material is pooled on the surface or in the sand joints of the pavement. Material coverage will depend on the surface porosity and pavement usage. Airless sprayers can be used in lieu of hand held pump sprayers on larger projects. Use the largest nozzle to ensure SB-6000 Wet Look Sealer does not atomize and dry before it hits the pavement surface. The spray should be a low pressure, even mist to wet down the pavement surface. Clean all application equipment with water and do not allow material to dry in containers as removal becomes more difficult.
Coverage Per Gallon:
100-200 square feet depending on substrate porosity.
Can I use this on slate tile in a shower
No. you cannot. We do not have any products for slate interior showers.
how long does an unopened 5 gal bucket of SB-6000 last?
2-3 years as long as it is stored in a temperature controlled room.
What temperatures can this be applied in? I am doing a brick patio this fall and would like to seal it this fall. What is the lowest temperature this can be applied in?
Around 45-50 f.
Can you achieve a good result applying this product using a roller instead of a sprayer?
Yes, you can roll it. SB-6000 Wet Look Sealer should be rolled or sprayed on the pavement surface using a thick (3/8″) paint roller and a handheld garden sprayer.
Is it better to use a split foam roller or just a regular fibre roller?
Either.
I noticed you mentioned that this product is not compatible with clay pavers, yet I found on Surbonds website that it is. Can you clarify as we are looking for a wet look for clay pavers.
Thanks
While they do state this, we have seen the majority of clay paver applications not seal evenly with any wet look or gloss sealers. Sometimes it works, many times it does not.
what is the solid content of sb-6000?
About 15-20%.
Hello, can SB-6000 be applied to Clay bullnose to enhance the look i.e. give a wet look? I assume I can apply it to concrete pavers and glazed tiles on concrete. Can you please confirm?
You cannot apply it to clay pavers or glazed tiles.
Appreciate your reply.. Do you know any sealer that will work with concrete pavers and glazed stone tiles on concrete?
Also, do you know any solution that will enhance the clay bullnose colors similar to wet look?
No sealer will work on glazed stone tiles that we know of. Wet looks sealers dry blotchy on clay pavers. Wet look sealers are for concrete pavers.
Can I apply sb6000 on pavers where Supersealer M has been applied in the past?
Only if the surface is porous meaning water is able to soak in.
Thanks, I still need to clean the area with the Sure Clean multi-use cleaner. How long should I wait to apply Supreme shield SB-600 after cleaning the area with the Sure Clean product.
48 hours or longer.
I asked because the Surebond SB-6000 is milky white when applied, and I had a problem last year on my concrete pavers patio. I was trying to get a wet look, and I applied this product that was also white and milky, and the pavers looked very nice after application, but turned white a week later after a heavy rain. I have used numerous products to strip the white spots with no success until now that i used the Surestrip. It worked well on the white spots, leaving the pavers looking dull, and I thought to apply a wet look again, but I do not want the same thing happens again. that is why I wanted to know the difference.
That was an issue with the quality of the sealer you used prior. Neither of these sealers will turn white.
Hello:what is the difference between the Supreme Shield SB-600, and the Surebond SB-6000. It seems that there are both wet look sealers for concrete pavers. what will be better to apply on a concrete pavers patio.
Surebond is water-based and Supreme shield is solvent-based. Either would work for you.
What is your best water based paver sealer for Florida sun. Semi gloss sealer we can spray on 5k. driveway. New pavers.
For a paver sealer that is water based and semi-gloss, use this: https://www.opwdecks.com/defy-paver-sealer-5-gallon.htm
Is the Sb 1300 specifically for the polymeric sand joints?
It can be used for regular sand or poly sand.
Thank. I understand it goes on after the SB-6000 correct? Since I’ll be using the sb6000 do I use the sb1300 for the entire pavers or just on the joints?
Entire.
I was planning to do the same thing. I called SEK and they said not to apply sb-1300 on top of the sb-6000. They said it would only cause issues. They suggested using their PolySweep instead, which I am not a fan of. My pavers have very tight joints and I don’t feel Polymeric sand will be easy to install.
How long after the installation of a new paver patio do you recommend waiting before applying this product?
You can do it right away as long as it is clean and dry.
Great! Thank you!
How long do you wait between coats?
Apply the second as soon as the first coat dries. 1-2 hours should be enough.
What would you recommend as a general purpose cleaner before applying SB-6000 onto old pavers that have never been treated?
Just pressure wash with water.
Thanks for the quick reply! A few of the pavers have efflourescence, rust, or other random marks/stains on them. What would you recommend for spot cleaning (before applying SB-6000)?
There is not a cleaner that works for all. You need a cleaner that is specific to each issue.
FYI, efflorescence is on new pavers, not old. If you have something white then it is something else and no way to say for certain what will clean it unless you know exactly what the cause of the white.
I see white spots in my newly laid cal stone pavers. Cal stone website says that it’s natural process and white spots will go away after some time. If I apply SB-6000 now, will white spots get trapped and will not go away? Should I wait until white spots are gone or can I apply SB-6000 now? Thank you
Wait until the efflorescence goes away before applying and sealers.
what is the difference between SureBond SB-6000 and Supreme Shield SB-6000?
Surebond is water based and the Supreme Shield is solvent based. You will get a richer wet look out of the solvent based Supreme Shield.
I cannot find Supreme Shield SB6000? I did find SB600?
Do you guys sell Supreme shield SB6000? Cannot find it anywhere.
It is SB-600, not SB-6000 for the Supreme Shield: https://www.opwdecks.com/supreme-shield-sb-600-5-gallon.htm
How do your water based sealers compare in durability with your solvent based sealers?
About the same.
How do your water based sealers compare in durability with your solvent based sealers?
Not designed for plain poured concrete.
Is there any issue using this product on a concrete driveway? Description only talks about concrete pavers. Thanks!
Thanks for the review.
Just got through spraying about 1500 sq ft of pavers. I put two coats on and even after one it looked great! Right now, I’m satisfied and will see how it looks after a summer and winter pass to really know how well this stuff works. For the price, it should, knowing too that it may need a touch up or redue in two years. As mentioned, there’s not a lot of gloss but the color and depth of the stone will really show after you apply. I used my airless sprayer and backrolled the first application. The second was just a quick spray and let dry.
Can this be applied with an airless spray system? I have about 1500 sq ft of concrete pavers and a garden sprayer takes way too much time. I have 5 gal. of SB-6000 and will be ordering more to do the job. Like the look of the sealer in our test area.
Jim T, the only time you strip is if the old sealer has discolored or failed by turning white/yellow. This is not normal but can happen with certain brands or form excessive over application.
Is it necessary to strip every time you re coat? Even with non gloss or gloss?
You suggest stripping old sealer, before adding new.Does this mean when redoing,in 3 or 4 years I must strip again?
Thanx,
Jim
There is little to no gloss with the SB-6000
I understand this sealer gives a wet look, but what kind of gloss level (if any) will this produce on my pavers?
You can use this inside if desired.
I got an interior brick wall in my house which previously was plastered. The house was done over and wated to keep the brick exposed. It’s all cleans d but I’m just looking for something to give the wet look while being safe for the inside of the house. Hoping that you guys can help me soon. Needs to get done in the next couple of weeks.
Thank you.
Couple of years is normal.
How long will the sealer last on a paver surface?
Water based sealer that will give a rich wet look, without the shine.
