when we applied defyextreme clear we apparently used too much on the second coat so now it is sticky on the surface. How would you recommend we remedy this? Can we sand it off or is there a cleaner that will work? Thanks
Give it a week, hopefully, it will cure fully. If not, you would have to strip or sand it off to fix it.
Okay, thank you. If needed what type of stripper will work? Thanks again

How long will Defy extreme clear stop the wood from graying out.
The Extrem Clear requires an annual clean and recoat.
I sanded down a deck that was previously painted and stained
So I have colors of green from the first stain aswell as brown from the paint coat and then clear wood where we sanded through both coatings. The customer loves it and wants that look. Can I just apply an Defy Extreme clear or transparent stain to it all and still have the other colors showing through. It is kinda like stressed furniture look. She likes it as we are on the coast in Georgia
No, it will not take unless all is removed.
Use the Armstrong Clark for this.
I have a a 500 square foot cedar deck that was initially stained using sikkens cetol srd. After 2 yrs the stain was fading a gone from heavy wear areas, so as per product recommendations we cleaned the deck and recoated, but it became evident that this was no going to look good as the heavy wear areas were significantly lighter in color and the stain was very dark where in areas with less wear. We ended up stripping the newly applied stain and sanding the whole top surface of the deck to re-apply the sikkens stain. We are another another 2 years down the road and I would like to sand the whole deck and start with a new system. I am in Canada and looking at either Defy Extreme or Armstrong Clark as options but I want a system that I can maintain to look good without sanding the deck down. Which of these 2 systems would you recommend, and I should mention that this deck is south facing so it gets significant sun exposure. Also, can you seal an oil stain like Armstrong Clark with a product like Defy Extreme Clear after the oil stain has cured?
Defy Extreme is better then Flood but the best would be one the Defy Extreme in one of the three tints: Defy Extreme Stain (http://www.opwdecks.com/defy-extreme.htm)
Make sure to remove the Flood first.
“Wet on Wet”, means apply your first coat then apply your second coat within 20-120 minutes after.
I am interested in the Defy Extreme Clear. I applied flood CWF-uv5 last year and very dissapointed with the results. How does Defy compare to Flood and what is Wet on Wet?
