Hello – I would like to re-stain and/or reseal a stamped concrete patio. The color is mixed within the concrete. This patio is likely 10-12 years old and has had no maintenance since being poured. There are some cracks that will need to be repaired prior to sealing. However, I’m afraid I won’t be able to color match those repaired areas.
Are the white marks seen on the patio the old sealer?
I believe the patio was originally a brown color, so why is the concrete pink?
Does this color react to a certain sealer to change the color?
What products and process should I use to complete this?
Can you send a picture of the entire surface wet with water? This will help determine what prep is needed and how it would look when sealed with a wet look sealer.
It’s been raining off and on quite a bit lately, so hopefully these images are useful. Is it possible to get it to a darker shade that is not pink? The side of the stairs are darker since they’re not in direct sunlight and it appears the original color was once brown.

Desert Tan is a light brown.
It’s probably safest to stay with the desert tan (light brown), right?
What would happen if I used the slate gray over the pink tinted concrete?
And if I am to screw up the color, I can just strip it again and start over?
Both the Desert Tan on the Slate Gray are mostly opaque so you can use either. Yes, you could strip and start over.
Assuming this goes well, how often should I be sealing this patio? Can I keep using Super Seal 25? Will I need to strip it again assuming I stay up on the maintenance?

We purchased a 10 year old home a few years ago in NM with a stamped, stained concrete entry (and partial-driveway). It looked weathered then and has deteriorated since. A few weeks ago, the stain began flaking in many areas. I had two different contractors come by for a “free” estimate to refinish. One contractor said I needed to rip out all the concrete and replace…to the tune of $7300+. No thanks. The other guy gave me a vague $3K quote. Both told me the current stain is WATER-BASED because of the flaking (and bare concrete underneath). As a DIYer, I’d like to tackle this myself.
I used my pressure sprayer and so far have cleared a bit of the color (and whatever sealant remains), as the pictures show. Near the house, in the shade, the color and wet-look is fine, but still needs to be resealed. Otherwise, the remaining 90% of the stamped concrete looks pretty bad. As others have mentioned, spraying is a very tedious process, and I don’t want to harm the concrete. I’d like to strip completely and re-stain/seal.
What product/process would you recommend?
Sorry, but we do not carry the products that will fix this. We do have a stripper to remove the old sealer but it will not remove the stain and stamped concrete is stained internally and then a release stain is added on top. We do not carry those products.
I have a stamped concrete patio; 10 years old, color was added to the concrete truck. I have been using H&C Concrete water based natural look sealer. I applied it most recently 2 years ago but areas, especially in the sun, have turned white and are cracking and flaking. What product will remove the old sealer and will it damage or change the stamped concrete color? What water based sealer you recommend after the old sealer is removed? Thank you

i HAVE A STAMPED CONCRETE DRIVEWAY INSTALLED THREE YEARS AGO AND WAS NEVER SEALED.
That has an old sealer on them that has started to turn white or blush. You will have to strip this to fix it and then reseal with a better sealer.

No advantage to additional coats.
I’m having some “Speckling” occur with my concrete stain. I’m using H&C Infusion Semi-transparent stain. Do you have any recommendations or products that would help this?

Yes, either would work and the only difference is that the 30 is a little bit shinier than the 25.

Located on the OR coast- mostly cool weather and freeze maybe 1 time a year. Lots of rain (90″ a year). With this information, would you suggest the Super Seal 25 or 30? Hello, you cannot fix the white haze by adding more sealer. You need to chemically strip off all the old coatings first using this:

I have a stained concrete patio. It is dark brown and in Texas. I have been applying Chem-Coat Premium Concrete Sealer (acrylic resins in solvent). After a few months in fades and turns white, especially in the hot summer. A new coat brings it back to life, but it fades again in a few months. Can I apply SuperSeal30 over this?
No it cannot be used or sold there.

We have approx 150 sq ft concrete patio the was stamped,colored and sealed approx 6 years ago by a local company we found at a home show. They sold us on water based colors and sealer and it looked great. We live in Las Vegas and the sun has faded and discolored most of the patio except for a few protected/covered areas. We would like to have it power-washed and refinished and were considering using your “SuperSeal25 Semi-Gloss 5 Gallon” product. My question is do we need to acid wash the entire patio first or just clean it?
You probably need to strip if the old sealer has turned white. Use the Brick Paver Sealer stripper we sell.
I have stained stamped concrete about 5 years old. Was originally sealed with superseal 2000 then again 2 years ago. Now the areas in the sun are chalky and others not in the sun are still sealed wet look. I tried xylene and it didn’t work on the chalky areas. Purchased 5 gal of superSeal 25 semi gloss. My pool concrete has never been stained before or water proofed. I would like to stain in a (not for sure the correct terminology) mixed looking stain. Not a solid color. Do you sell this and some tips on application.
Tony, sorry but cleaners will not remove scuff marks.
I am getting ready to install a patio stone path using a stamped concrete stone. They have what I would call scuff marks probably due to being stacked on top of each other and rubbing.
Will the NMD 80 product remove these, and if not, do you know a product or process that will?

I have a stamped, stained concrete walkway and patio. It was installed about 2 years ago and it has constantly turned a milky white even after the installer sealed it, and I rolled on Xylene earlier this spring to bring back the color and remove the initial sealer. What can I do to stop this milky white coloring?

Live in California (temp gets over a 100 in the summer) and recently acid stain the patio concrete around my pool. Not satisfied with the coloring so looking for a sealant that enhance/darken the color, add a semi-wet look and is slip proof (most important)

I have about 1700 square feet of tinted/color stained concrete (in California) to clean and reseal. The original finish was solvent based. Which of your products would you recommend using over an older finish? I’d like a gloss, or semi-gloss look and will be adding ‘grip’ around the pool area. Thanks!
Turning white is from something underneath the sealer 90% of the time, not the sealer itself. It could be:
1. Trapped moisture
2. Efflorescence
3. Polymeric sand haze
4. An old sealer was used before that had turned white.
There are some sealers though on the market that turn white by themselves. Behr’s Wet Look Sealer for example.

Our stamped concrete protective surface is half, off, white or gray in areas, cracks. Our contractor wants to fill the cracks and then stain the concrete after removing the old sealer. Is this advised and what will it look like? Would it be better to just have it resealed ?

Joe, Use Xylene or Lacquer thinner.
How do you clean the sprayer after applying Super Seal 25
Turning white is caused by something underneath the sealer. SuperSeal by itself is a breathable styrene acrylic sealer and does trap moisture. In your scenario it is either trapped moisture (due to two different sealers) or you old sealer was already having issues. It sounds to me like trapped moisture. Water that gets in the brick will to raise the surface but if it cannot get out (trapped) it will turn white under the sealer. That is why you did not have an issue in the covered areas.
You could try the solvent method to restore the shine and remove the white haze. This is the easiest thing to do but may not stop it from coming back later in the year.
The other option is to strip it all off and start over. Much harder to do:

I applied the superseal 30 over a previous acrylic lacquer and it looked great until the fall rains appeared (2 months later). The coating has a opaque white sheen over 80% of the concrete (a mix of sand finish and exposed aggregate). the same coating under a covered patio did not turn white except where rain was blown in at the edges. first question is any idea why it failed? and second questions is how do I remove the failed sealer?

i had a new stamped concrete poured last summer i bought super sel 30 gloss finish for the top it looked perfect,the color is a terra cotta color ,the snow has melted not i see lots of white scratches on the top surface how do i remove these white scratches,,they are not deep just surface scratches probably from my dogs claws any suggestions? thanks in advance

I have stained concrete in my place of business, and we have sealed it a number of times using HTF-25. My floor needs to be resealed, but I now need to use a VOC free sealant due to health problems. Do I need to strip what is left of the old sealant before using a new product? Do you have any recommendations of a good, commerical grade VOC product?
